Manager steals almost 1000 phones from Verizon store, police say

Simpsonville Police have arrested a man they say stole 983 phones from the Verizon store where he worked.

Charles Thomas Gilbert of Simpsonville was arrested Tuesday and charged with Breach of Trust and Violation of the SC Computer Crimes Act.

Gilbert was manager of the Verizon Wireless store on Harrison Bridge Road in Simpsonville.

Police say Gilbert used the store computers to execute a scheme to obtain the phones valued at over $400,000.

Gilbert is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
