Marcus King Band Performs on Conan

News

Greenville’s The Marcus King Band performed on the show Conan Tuesday night.

Before the show, 22-year-old Greenville native Marcus King told 7 News it was a significant milestone for the band. “Since I’ve been really young I’ve been watching that show, so it’s really incredible to be here,” he said.

The band performed the song “Where I’m Headed” from its third album “Carolina Confessions” which will be released October 5th. King wrote almost the entire album, with some help from Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys and songwriter Pat McLaughlin.

He says he partly wrote the album about being homesick for Greenville. “It talks about missing home but the overall theme is accepting some of the blame in the demise of a relationship,” he says.

King says some of the things he’s missed about Greenville are Horizon Records, Mike & Jeff’s BBQ and Chicora Alley.

The Marcus King Band is currently on a world tour and will perform in Black Mountain, NC October 5th and 6th.
