James Ollis Laurens County 1

LAURENS CO., SC (WSPA) – A Laurens County man is behind bars after deputies found hundreds of marijuana plants on his property.

42-year-old James Edwin Ollis of Ware Shoals is charged with Trafficking Marijuana and Cultivating Marijuana.

Deputies say they saw the marijuana plants from the air on Ollis’s property on Graden Road in Ware Shoals.

A search of the property found a large-scale marijuana grow inside a building behind Ollis’s house, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies seized around 200 marijuana plants, more than 40 guns, over $1,000 in cash, a bobcat excavator, multiple vehicles, and numerous other items from the property.

““I’m proud of our Narcotic Unit for their dedication and hard work. I know when people see this there will be negative comments from certain groups which argue for the legalization of marijuana,” says Sheriff Don Reynolds. “The bottom line is this; Marijuana is illegal in our state and as long as I’m Sheriff we will continue to pursue anyone who pushes illegal drugs in our community.”
