Marion woman accused of assault, child abuse after intentionally crashing vehicle

MCDOWELL COUNTY, NC (WSPA) – McDowell County Sheriff’s Office officials said a woman faces assault and child abuse charges after she intentionally crashed her vehicle into another vehicle on March 8.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, a deputy was called to Oakdale Road in Old Fort in regards to a crash involving a domestic dispute over child custody issues.

When the deputy arrived on-scene, he learned that Kendra Kerry Boyd, 22, of Marion, was reportedly driving recklessly and purposely crashed her vehicle into another vehicle that carried her two kids — ages 2 and 4 — as well as the father of her children.

According to the release, Boyd and the children’s father were involved in a custody dispute.

Boyd was charged by the sheriff’s office with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of child abuse.

NC Highway Patrol also charged Boyd with careless and reckless driving.
