CHARLOTTE, NC (WSPA)- Tens of thousands of pounds of potatoes are covering I-77 Southbound in Charlotte.

A sleepy driver crashed a tractor-trailer at the interchange with I-277. According to CBS-affiliate WBTV, the driver hit a concrete barrier and spilled out the potatoes on the highway.

The road is expected to shut down for hours while crews work to clean up the spill. All lanes are expected to reopen by 12 PM, according to the NCDOT.

One lane has been reopened, troopers say.

We’ll keep following this as the road reopens.
