One South Carolina State Senator says media may be America’s biggest problem after recent shootings and suggested a shutdown would help.
In a Facebook post published Friday morning, SC State Senator Katrina Shealy said “Our biggest problem could very possibly (most likely) be the Media!!!”
Shealy blamed the media for some of the violence claiming they are, “stirring the pot, fueling an already blazing fire.” Shealy then suggested shutting down all media for one month except weather reports to “let everyone else do their job.”
She later told the Post and Courier that it was more social media that was the problem and the lack of accuracy.
Later, Shealy tweeted “I don’t want to violate our 1st Amend Rights, I believe in Freedom of speech, I want you to report news & keep citizens safe.”
