Men use dating app to rob victims at motel

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said two more victims were identified in an armed robbery investigation.

Detectives said the suspects used a popular dating website, called “Plenty of Fish,” to lure unsuspecting victims to local motels. When the victims arrived at the prearranged meeting locations, they were battered and robbed at gun point by two male suspects.

Detectives said the latest reported gunpoint robbery occurred on June 16 at the Bayview Motel in Oldsmar.

The second most recently reported incident occurred on June 18 at the Knights Inn Hotel in Clearwater.

These are the previously reported gunpoint robbery incidents in this case:

June 19 at the Bayview Motel in Oldsmar.

June 24 at the Bayview Motel in Oldsmar.

The suspects, 21-year-old Charlie Woodley and 20-year-old Cameron Davis, were arrested on June 25.

Woodley and Davis were both charged with two additional counts of Robbery with a Deadly Weapon or Firearm. They are both currently in the Pinellas County Jail awaiting trial.

Detectives believe there are more victims, and this investigation is ongoing.
