PICKENS CO. – A man who went missing more than a week ago has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Christopher Allen Tankersley, 30, or Boiling Springs was last seen July 13th after visiting a friend in the Six Mile Community.
Tankersley left the friend’s home riding a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle.
Tankersley told the friend he was going home, but never arrived at his home, sparking the search.
The Sheriff’s Office helicopter flew the area between Six Mile and Boiling Springs, but could not find him.
Around 9 p.m. Thursday, some called the sheriff’s office to report a motorcycle had been seen earlier in the week parked in a secluded area behind Six Mile Elementary near a nature trail.
That’s where deputies found Tankersley and his motorcycle.
The sheriff’s office says the evidence shows the victim had been dead for several days and that he died from self-inflicted injuries.
Investigators say Tankersley bought a shotgun from a friend the same day he disappeared.
The shotgun was found next to his body.
