(WSPA) — Today marks 50 years since the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The civil rights leaders was fatally shot in Memphis one day after delivering his Mountaintop speech.
King will be remembered with events near and far.
An event will be held from noon to 6:30 p.m. in Greenville at McAlister Square.
A symbolic funeral procession will be held in Miami and a rally calling for the end of racism is planned in Washington, D.C.
