SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – Deputies say they were on patrol when they checked on Spinx on Highway 9.

When they left the store they saw an SUV running and unattended.

The deputy looked through the front window and saw a small child sitting in the rear seat waving at him.

He walked around to the driver’s side rear where he saw another child sitting on the passenger seat.

He open the driver’s side door and it was unlocked, according to the deputy.

He talked to the kids for two minutes until an adult came out of the store, according to the report.

The deputy said the adult identified himself as the kids’ mother’s uncle.

The deputy said the man didn’t show concern for the fact that the vehicle was left running and said the air conditioning was running.

He said they were only in the store for a quick minute.

The report says the mother came out of the store a few minutes later and identified herself as Pamela Ann Leroy.

She said she didn’t see anything wrong with leaving the kids in the car and the air condition was on, according to the report.

The deputy said she didn’t have an answer for the doors being unlocked.

Deputies ran a check on Leroy and found she had a bench warrant for Driving Under Suspension.

She is charged now with:

  • Leaving a Vehicle Unattended
  • Child Neglect
