Motorcyclist dead after crash on Asheville Hwy. in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – One person has died after a crash on Asheville Highway in Spartanburg County.

The crash happened in front of the Ingles near Springfield Road around 6:15 p.m. Sunday, according to S.C. Highway Patrol.

Troopers say a box truck pulled out of the drive to Ingles and was struck by a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle struck the box truck and was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

Troopers say the motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Spartanburg County Coroner identified the victim as 34-year-old Brian Patrick Amburgey of Boiling Springs.

Troopers say the crash is still under investigation by the Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
