MCDOWELL COUNTY, NC (WSPA) – The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said a man faces multiple charges after a short chase on Saturday.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, a deputy was at the intersection of Goose Creek Road and US 221 South just before 11 p.m. when a black motorcycle with no tag displayed passed him at a high rate of speed.

The deputy tried to stop the motorcycle, but the driver sped up, passed a truck on a double-yellow line and while trying to turn onto Interstate 40, the motorcyclist ran off of the road.

According to the release, the deputy arrested the driver of the motorcycle — identified as Timothy Alan Buchanan, 31, of Marion.

Buchanan was charged with fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving to endanger, failure to heed a light and siren and driving the wrong way on a dual-lane road.

North Carolina Highway Patrol also charged him with several traffic offenses.
