MUGS: 34 arrested in 'Operation The Heat Is On' in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WSPA) - Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office officials announced  they have issued dozens of drug charges following a months-long investigation.

"Pills, meth, heroine, marijuana, it didn't matter - if it was an illegal substance we targeted it," Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said. "The men and women of this community did me a big favor when I asked I needed your help in finding out where the drug dealers are."

Sheriff Wright said 34 people were arrested on drug-related charges during the sheriff's office's operation called, "The Heat Is On." He said deputies signed 155 warrants for 77 people.

"I know some of their families and they didn't raise them that way," the sheriff said of some of the suspects. "You can get out of this life if you choose to . We'll do our best to help you. We'll pray for you. But let it be known we're not going to tolerate it."

Narcotics investigators have been working on this for the past six months.

"This is driving a lot of our petit larcenies, our robberies, our car thefts," Wright said.
