GREENVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – Two people have been arrested in connection with separate murders in Greenville Co., according to a sheriff’s office report.
Jamell Shikeem-Shakeya Wingfield of Piedmont, 21, was found shot in the parking lot of Fleetwood Manor Apartments on Jan. 26 around 8:30 p.m.
Wingfield was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Ryan Flood with the sheriff’s office said Niklaus Anthony Bennett, William Ramirez and several other people went to the apartment to commit a robbery.
When they got there, Ramirez shot and killed Wingfield.
The next day, Ramirez, Bennet and Stephon Rasheid Sherman drove to the end of Lakeside Rd.
Bennett and Sherman then shot and killed Ramirez, according to investigators.
7News asked the sheriff’s office if Ramirez was taken there against his will.
“Not against his will but under the understanding that something else was going to occur and the information that we have is they were gonna commit another robbery,” said Flood.
Niklaus Anthony Bennett is charged with 2 counts of Murder and 2 Counts of Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.
Stephon Rasheid Sherman is charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.
7News spoke with residents at Fleetwood Manor Apartments Monday about the arrests.
Lois, who did not want to give her last name, said she remembers playing Spades with Wingfield and how much the children in the neighborhood loved Wingfield.
“Jemell was a happy person an outgoing happy person who just loved life,” said Lois.
Deputies are still investigating both incidents to identify other potential suspects.
“We’re an agency of 450-460 deputies serving a community of over 500,000 so we need the community to also help be our eyes and ears when we’re not in a particular area and report any suspicious activity,” said Flood.
