Honea Path Police say they saw Shannon Ray Carter driving at the intersection of East McGee and Harper St.
Police say they tried to stop him because they knew he was driving under suspension and had an active warrant.
They say he sped up and began driving erratically out of town on Abercrombie Rd.
He ran off the road on the opposite side and ran over a street sign.
He crossed back over into his lane and stopped on the side of the road.
Police told everyone to exist the vehicle.
They say two women got out and got on the ground.
The two men in the car didn’t comply, according to police.
They say Carter jumped over a fence and ran into a wooded area.
They called in Anderson Co. Sheriff’s Office K-9 units to start a search.
They found Carter naked in a briar thicket.
Carter wouldn’t comply with commands and got into a fight with an Anderson Co. deputy, according to police.
They tazed him.
They called in EMS to evaluate Carter because of multiple scratches from running in the briars.
They say he was taken to the hospital because he appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and had symptoms of seizures.
He faces charges of Driving Under Suspension (other than first), Failure to Stop for Blue Light, along with service of arrest warrant for Theft of Electric Current.
