NC House drafting HB2 changes due to NBA pressure

RALEIGH, NC (WSPA) – WBTV is reporting that NC House leadership is drafting changes to HB2 because of pressure from the NBA over the All Star Game, scheduled to be hosted in Charlotte in 2017.

The bill has sparked controversy all over the country. It restricts the choice of bathrooms of transgender people can use.

It requires a transgender person to use the bathroom of the gender on their birth certificate.

They report that the legislation would walk back portions of the bill. You can read the draft changes here

One change would be the creation of a “certificate of sex reassignment” that would recognize a person’s gender reassignment.

It also increases penalties for epeople convicted of crimes in a multi-person bathroom.Read WBTV’s article here
