NC murder suspect admits killing on Facebook

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Deputies are searching for Anthony Curtis Macneill, 32, who officials say shot and killed his daughter’s grandfather early Sunday morning.

Macneill is considered armed and dangerous, officials say.

The suspect has been active on social media throughout the day, apparently posting to his Facebook page.

“Just killed someone… Leaving NC, goodbye everyone,” he appeared to post on what seemed to be his Facebook page.

Then later, “I’m not turning myself in. If I can’t make it out of NC I’m going to shoot myself.”

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting, which initiated as a domestic dispute, at 6617 Wake Forest Road in the College Downs subdivision of northern Fayetteville Sunday morning.

When deputies arrived, they found Eugene Racine, 48, had been shot. Racine was the grandfather of Macneill’s 15-month-old daughter.

Racine’s father spoke off camera to CBS North Carolina. He says his son saved his family by heading off Macneill before he could get into their home.

And according to apparent Facebook posts by Macneill, he was trying to get to the mother of his child.

At the scene, deputies learned the suspect was Macneill and of his familial ties to Racine.

“It shook me up when I heard it this morning, it really did. It was a shock,” said Frances Ray.

Ray lives across the street from Eugene Racine on wake forest road in Fayetteville.

She heard the gunshots early Sunday morning that took Racine’s life.

“We heard a boom, boom, boom, like that,” she said.

Deputies dispatched a canine to locate Macneill.

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone with information on Macneill’s location to contact them at (910) 323-1500 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-8477.
