The Anderson Police Department and Anderson County Coroner’s Office are investigating after a teenager was found dead in a car with a gunshot Thursday. The death has been ruled a homicide.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown identified the victim as Hunter Eston Sizemore, 19, of Pendleton, S.C.

His body was found at the Anderson Crossing Apartments around 8:30 a.m. According to the deputy coroner, Sizemore did not live at the Anderson Crossing Apartments. People who do live there told 7 News they are shocked that this happened in their neighborhood.

Resident Sharan Perry said she thought she heard a gunshot around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

“I heard police probably around 8:30 ish,” Perry said. “I come out, and they had everything taped off.”

She said she saw a body in the driver’s seat.

Another person staying at the complex overnight said they heard a gunshot much earlier, around 2:30 or 3 a.m.

“All of a sudden we just heard like a ‘Pow!’ It was just one shot,” said Kayden Donald. “And we heard a car speed off. It sounded like it was right outside the window.”

She said no one was outside by the time she looked out the window.

“When we woke up this morning, the cops [were] like banging on the door at 10:30 saying they had found a body outside, and I was just like, ‘Oh my God,'” she said.

One resident told us they’ll be moving because of this. Others said they think this is just a one-time thing.

“It surprises me, and like it’s crazy,” Donald said. “But you know stuff like this happens all the time.”
