New plans will create microretail space in Downtown Anderson

ANDERSON, SC (WSPA) Since January 2018, 22 new businesses have opened in Downtown Anderson and revitalization is stretching through Main Street.

Now one building 401 North Main Street is about to get it’s own makeover as a Wisconsin couple plans to transform it into the first microretail space downtown.

With 12,000 square feet and three levels, the plan is to have an anchor business like a coffee shop on the main level with other smaller businesses surrounding it. Then the upstairs will be living space and the basement could be a restaurant.

We could be the catalyst to instill more growth and development in Downtown and there are so many beautiful buildings in Downtown Anderson and a lot of them are being worked on taking them back to what they once were, said Richard Kummrow who’s opening this new retail space.

The plans are in the very beginning stages of development, but the new owners want to preserve the history of the building. It was built in 1909 and a former post office so they are renaming it to be The Postmark.
