New play area helps animals bond with humans

A group of strangers has come together to give back to their community.

The Pickens Chamber of Commerce brought 20 community leaders together to learn more about government and service projects.

One of the group’s projects has been helping animals off the streets and finding forever homes for them.

They built a fence and play area at the Pickens County Animal Shelter.

They hope it helps create a strong bond between the animals and humans that want to adopt them.

The shelter hopes to become a no kill shelter.

They want every animal that comes through it’s doors to be adopted.

In the past month the shelter has taken in over 200 animals.

They work with rescue partners and humane societies around the country to help the animals in Pickens County.
