New study finds free food at work leads to unhealthy eating

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) - Do you work somewhere where you hear "Food in the break room!" at least once a week?

If you're struggling with the afternoon munchies, it's great to hear, but have you ever stopped to consider the calories?

A new study from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention finds working Americans eat an average of 1,300 calories at work a week.

According to EurekAlert!, an online science news website, most of those are from empty calories, which come from foods with high levels of fat and sugar.

70% of those calories come from those free foods you come across in the break room.
