No buses for Greenville Co. students on Thursday, school open

GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – Greenville County schools will be open on Thursday, October 6th, but will not have buses for a second straight day.

Greenville County sent 280 buses to assist with evacuations in Charleston and say those buses will stay in Charleston overnight Wednesday into Thursday. GCS is also sending drivers for those buses.

The buses left Wednesday morning for the Low country.

Greenville County has 27,000 bus riders. If those students can not find alternate transportation, their absence will be excused. All other students not marked as bus riders that do not attend, will be marked as absent.

All field trips are also canceled for Thursday.

The district says the buses belong to the state and are part of the South Carolina Emergency Preparedness plan. The district does not know if buses will be available on Friday.
