A local group is making sure children stay safe while they have a good time.

The nonprofit Childhood Injury Prevention Services invited people out to the Star Lanes bowling alley in Greenville, Saturday.

Organizers say nothing is more important in preventing spinal cord and other injuries than education.

The event was also about mentoring.

“The mission of this is educate kids about concussions and head and spinal cord injuries,” said Rico Brown, “I was paralyzed in ’84 playing football in high school.”

The nonprofit wants to make sure every family has information they need to play hard and play smart.
