Numerous drug charges for Spartanburg Co. man after chase & crash

SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – A Spartanburg County man has been arrested on numerous drug and weapons charges after a chase and crash last Thursday.

According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Wade Randall Scruggs of Mayo was involved in a chase before he crashed at the corner of Mayo Road and River Road on April 25.

The chase began at the corner of Parris Bridge Road and Overcreek Road when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle that crossed the center line multiple times while on Old Furnace Road.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they found methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, clonazepam, alprazolam, a Ruger LC9 handgun, a .22 caliber rifle in the trunk, and over $2,200 in cash.

In addition to 10 drug charges, Scruggs is also charged by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office with Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, Unlawful carrying of a pistol, Failure to Stop for Blue Light, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Violent Felony, 

Scruggs was also charged with Driving Under Suspension, Uninsured Vehicle Fee Violation, Operating a Vehicle Which is Not Registered and Licensed, Seatbelt Violation, and Driving Under the Influence.
