NWS confirms EF0 tornado hit McDowell Co. Friday morning

MCDOWELL CO., NC (WSPA) – The National Weather Service says that an EF0 tornado struck northern McDowell County, Friday morning.

The tornado touched down with 75 MPH winds around US-221 in Ashford just before 10:30am, according to the NWS.

The National Weather Service says most of the damage consisted of limbs down with some trees uprooted.

The NWS says there was some damaged to shingles at The Inn at Blue Ridge along with some damage to metal skirting around a mobile home.

Nobody was hurt in the tornado.
