UNION COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — The National Weather Service surveyed storm damage in Union County Saturday morning.
NWS officials determined that the damage that was caused Friday was not a tornado. They said it was a result of straight-line wind.
The area experienced severe thunderstorms on Friday, resulting in several trees knocked down across the county.
Areas from west of Carlisle along Foster Howell Road to the area west of Lockhart all experienced downed or snapped trees, officials said.
