Oconee Co. man arrested for numerous child sex crimes, deputies say

OCONEE CO., SC (WSPA) – An Oconee County man has been arrested on almost three dozen charges related to child sex crimes, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

34-year-old Brandon Ray McKern is charged with 25 counts of first degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, 10 counts of second degree Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor and three counts of third degree Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor.

Investigators say they received multiple tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after they received reports from Facebook about criminal activity on their servers.

Deputies say they then searched McKern’s residence in Seneca, Monday.

The Sheriff’s Office says they have identified 26 victims, of which they say McKern exploited 25 of them online.

According to warrants, McKern coerced minors into sending him sexually explicit photos and videos on social media.

Warrants also say that McKern had sex with a victim between the ages of 11 and 14 multiple times between January of 2017 and January of 2018.

McKern is being held in the Oconee County Detention Center on $870,000 bond.

Investigators believe that there may be more victims and ask anyone who may have been a victim or who may have any additional information on the case to call the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office at 864-638-4111.
