Oldest Pearl Harbor survivor reflects on Memorial Day

(WSPA) — Even at 106 years old, Ray Chavez remembers Dec. 7, 1941.

Chavez was stationed at Pearl Harbor on the day it was attacked.

Now he is the oldest surviving Pearl Harbor veteran.

Chavez recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the  2018 National Memorial Day Program.

He says the act of remembering is what is most important on Memorial Day.
