Across South Carolina, there’s a big push to hire more veterans.
Operation Palmetto Employment hosted a summit in Spartanburg Wednesday. It’s one of three they’re holding across the state to make sure employers understand the process and get connected.
Elisa Edwards, Program Director of Employment Services for the SC Army National Guard, says they’ve seen success, with the unemployment rate among veterans dropping significantly over the past few years.
Edwards works with veterans to help in their transition to their civilian life.
“We help them translate those skills into civilian terms and really kind of match them up with employers that are looking for those skills,” she explained.
