ANDERSON, SC (WSPA) –  Two parents in Anderson Co. tell 7News that their child was first bullied on social media after moving to the area and then it turned violent in the school

A video circulating social media shows the fight on February 22nd at Glenview Middle School. Both Anderson District 5 officials and the parents of the girl being attacked said the fight was planned before it even happened.

Initially one or two girls are hitting the Norris’s 12 year old daughter, but then more jump in until an adult steps in. But it’s the actions of that adult that has the parents concerned. They tell 7News that their daughtered ended up in the hospital after the administrator put her in a choke hold.

“I’m hoping they get some sort of policy to break up a fight some sort of training. I asked them how do you break up fights like what is your policy like you have active shooter policy, but what’s your policy for breaking up fights and they said we don’t have one,” said Ty Norris who says his daughter was beat up at school.

In response, the district said they don’t have an obligation to physically step in to break up any fight. But after reviewing their own school cameras, they do not believe the administrator put his arms around her throat, but rather her shoulder therefore he did not do anything wrong in this situation.

But the district declined to allow us or the parents to view this video angle of the altercation.

The school district says all of the students involved did receive some form of punishment.
