ANDERSON COUNTY – People living in one part of Belton are being advised to boil their water before using it.

The City of Belton Combined Utilities issued the advisory on Wednesday morning for customers located in and around the Pelzer Street, Kelley Street, Woodward Street, Jackson Street, Ramsdale Street, and Smythe Street area.

Any customers living in that area are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking. Ice made from water which has not been boiled, should not be used for drinking purposes

The advisory was issued because of repair work Wednesday that led to a loss of water pressure. Water System personnel are working to restore pressure and service to this area.

The City of Belton Combined Utilities says it has not detected any contamination in the system, but the advisory was issued as a precaution.
