Passenger dies over a week after I-26 crash in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – One person has died more than a week after a crash on I-26 in Spartanburg County.

According to Highway Patrol, the crash happened on April 20 just before 2:30pm at the I-26 eastbound ramp to Interstate 85 southbound.

Troopers say a car was using the exit ramp then slowed down and attempted to reenter traffic on I-26 when it was rear-ended by a tractor trailer.

The driver and two passengers in the car were taken to Spartanburg Medical Center with injuries. One of the passengers — Jean Friedmann, 83, of Maryland — died Sunday.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The driver of the car, 63-year-old Tara Anderson of Candler, North Carolina, has been charged with one count of Impeding Traffic, according to Highway Patrol.
