GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A pedestrian died Saturday night in a crash in Greenville.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 9:35 p.m. on Pelham Road near Boiling Springs Road.

Troopers said the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road when hit by a 2020 Hyundai SUV.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian as Maximilio Marioz Lopez, 53, of Greenville.

According to troopers, Lopez was a pedestrian in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.

An external exam will be completed on Monday. This is an ongoing investigation by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
