Pentagram spray painted on Upstate church

PICKENS Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Worshippers on their way to an Easter service found an Easley church defaced with a pentagram and other markings.

Members of Riverview Baptist Church tell 7News they found the front and sides of the church covered in graffiti on Sunday.

“It made us all sick to our stomach, for someone to be that cruel and that mean especially on Easter Sunday,” said Micky Garner who’s the pastor’s son.

It’s the second time in two weeks that the church has been hit by vandals, according to members.

Earlier this month, deputies said vandals broke windows and spray painted messages on the side of Midway Presbyterian Church in Anderson County.

In total, deputies tell 7News eleven other churches in Anderson and Greenville Counties were vandalized since the beginning of 2019.

The graffiti has been covered with paint at Riverview Baptist Church.

Meanwhile, church members ask anyone with information to call the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office at 864-898-5500.
