Police ID victim in deadly Asheville fire, ask for information

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) — An apartment fire remains under investigation days after an Asheville woman’s death. Another person remains in the hospital with injuries. 

Asheville Police Department identified the victim as 57-year-old Laura Jean Trawick.

Trawick died of injuries at the scene.

A second victim is still being treated for burns they suffered in the Sunday morning fire at an apartment off Pritchard Road.

Asheville Fire Department said crews began an offensive attack on the advanced fire when they arrived on the scene. 

The N.C. State Bureau of Investigation has been asked to assist in the fire investigation. 

Police said in a news release Thursday that the fire remains under investigation.
