NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Tennessee Senate will consider a bill Wednesday that would make it legal for state residents to have a pet skunk.
Representative Jeremy Faison, R-Cosby, is the sponsor of the bill. Faison said it would allow the TWRA to issue permits for people to buy and sell skunks.
The law would only allow for domesticated skunks who have had their glands removed so they could not spray.
Skunks can be sold as pets for as much as $1,000 each and there could be possible revenue for those eager to engage in skunk marketing.
