Portion of Jocassee Gorges road closed due to landslides, SCDNR officials say

PICKENS COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – South Carolina Department of Natural Resources officials said a section of Jocassee Gorges road has closed due to landslides.

According to SCDNR’s website, a three-mile section of Horsepasture Road, which is within the Jim Timmerman Natural Resources Area at the Jocassee Gorges in northern Pickens County, was closed due to “unsafe landslidees caused by massive rainfall in the area.”

According to the SCDNR’s website, the road is closed from Bootleg Road south toward Jocassee Dam and is closed until further notice.
