SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Power has been restored to hundreds of customers in the Chesnee area.

Duke Energy confirmed about 1,400 customers were affected by the outage.

It was first reported shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

That’s around the same time that Chesnee Community Fire Department responded to a pole fire on West Cherokee Street, which is also Highway 11.

7 News is told the fire was caused by a transformer.

Ryan Mosier with Duke Energy says crews are on scene working to make repairs. As of 10:53 a.m., there were 586 customers without power.

Mosier said damage to a pole caused damage to a transformer.

We’re told power has been restored to all customers as of 12:07 p.m. Wednesday.
