Power restored to hundreds in Simpsonville area

SIMPSONVILLE, SC (WSPA) – More than 1,300 Duke Energy customers near Simpsonville were without electricity Wednesday afternoon.

Some viewers say they’ve experienced several outages today.

Ryan Mosier, a spokesman with Duke Energy, said the company was aware of “intermittent blinks” that a number of customers have experienced.

Mosier said the outage was caused by a tree in the lines that may have been brought down by earlier wind and rain.

“As part of the repair process, we switch circuits to bring large chunks of customers back sooner. During that process, some of the automated equipment used to make that happen inadvertently repeated the action several times,” Mosier said.

He said all repairs were complete shortly before 4pm Wednesday.
