MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) –  One Murrells Inlet neighborhood had an unexpected and unwelcomed visitor Tuesday afternoon.

Josh Neidig who lives in the Creekhaven neighborhood of Prince Creek says a 10 foot 2-inch alligator showed up beside a house Simplicity Drive.

Neidig was among the sizeable crowd that gathered to see the capture of the gator.

Bridgett Hamrick captured this video as the Snake Chasers were called in to remove the gator.

Horry County Police and South Carolina Department of Natural Resource officers also responded.

Neidig says they loaded the gator into a van and took him away.

He says officers told him the gator would possibly be released back into an area river.
