RECALL: Trader Joe’s cashews have possible salmonella contamination

A California company is recalling its Trader Joe’s Raw Cashew Pieces that may be contaminated with Salmonella, according U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Heritage International (USA) Inc. of Compton, CA voluntarily recalled its 16 oz., clear, non-resealable plastic package (with a barcode number of 00505154) of cashew nuts. The package will have the following code “Best before 07.17.2016TF4.” The product is only sold at Trader Joe’s stores.

No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Consumers who purchased these products are urged not to consume them. The products should be thrown away immediately or returned to the store. Customers may call Trader Joe’s Customer Relations at (626) 599-3817 from 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. PST, Monday-Friday, with any questions.
