Red Cross assisting evacuees and first responders in Pickens

PICKENS, S.C. (WSPA) – The American Red Cross has opened an emergency evacuation shelter at East Pickens Baptist Church on Gentry Memorial Highway.

The volunteers at the shelter are ready to help all who have followed the advice of the SC Forestry Commission and Pickens Fire Department, and have evacuated their homes.

The shelter is for those who live just south and southwest of the Pinnacle Mountain fire at Table Rock State Park.

The Red Cross also has an Emergency Response vehicle that will provide meals, snacks, and hydration to the first responders on the scene.

They will continue to assist for as long as they are needed.
