GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Temporary road closures and detours of northbound and southbound Interstate 385 will happened Friday night though Monday due to new ramp girders being installed.

According to a news release, the new ramp girders will be installed over I-385 southbound, which will impact traffic patterns this weekend on the I-85/285 Gateway Project.

Construction work will require the closure and detours of both directions of I-385 at the I-85 interchange.

According to the release, traffic on 385 northbound will be detoured at Exit 36A to 85 northbound, turned around at the Highway 14 Bridge (Exit 56) to 85 southbound, and then will be directed back to 385 northbound at Exit 51C.

Traffic on 385 southbound will be detoured at Exit 36B to 85 southbound, turned around at Laurens Road/Highway 276 (Exit 48A) to 85 northbound, and will then be directed back to 385 southbound at Exit 51B.

The new ramp girders are being installed for the future 85 southbound to 385 Southbound Connector Ramp, according to the release.

The road closures and detours will occur during the following times this weekend:

  • 9 p.m. Friday (Jan. 25) until 7 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 26)
  • 11:30 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 26) until 9:30 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 27)
  • 9 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 27) until 5 a.m. Monday (Jan. 28)
