LOCKHART, SC (WSPA) – The SCDOT says they are reopening the SC 9 bridge over the Broad River at 4pm. They say bridge repairs were completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule.
The Department of Transportation says the bridge was closed for repairs on July 18th and they had originally scheduled repairs to be complete on August 14.
A 35-mile detour was in place during the project which installed new beams and concrete patches to strengthen the bridge.
A new bridge is scheduled to be built next to the existing bridge. The project will be put out for bids by the end of 2016.
