(WSPA) – The unemployment rate in South Carolina was unchanged in March, but the state reports the number of people with jobs hit another record.
The jobless rate in March held at 4.4 percent according to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. The national average is 4.1 percent.
The agency reports the number of people employed reached 2,327,532 last month. The size of the labor force grew by more than 2,700 people, but the number of unemployed was up by more than 650.
Leisure and hospitality businesses saw the most growth in March, but there was a drop in the number of workers in manufacturing and construction.
