(WSPA) — Officials are preparing ahead of Hurricane Michael as the Category 4 storm makes its way towards the Florida coast.
Agencies across South Carolina say it’s never too early to prepare.
Hurricane Michael is expected to make landfall on Wednesday.
As of Tuesday, South Carolina Emergency Management is operating at OPCON 4 which means team members are keeping an eye on the storm.
The American Red Cross is on stand by to open shelters if residents need to leave their home.
The state Department of Transportation is planning on how to keep roads open. The department doesn’t currently expect to have to roll out any flood prevention devices.
