SC Sales Tax Holiday kicks off Friday

(WSPA) -- South Carolina shoppers can save on clothes, computers and many more items this weekend.

The state's annual Sales Tax Holiday starts Friday and continues through Sunday.

Back-to-school items are exempt from the state's 6 percent sales tax and local taxes during the tax-free weekend, according to the S.C. Department of Revenue (SCDOR).

Tax-free items includes clothes, shoes, school supplies, computers and even home goods, such as bed linens and bath towels.

The SCDOR says the holiday weekend saves shoppers between $2 million and $3 million.
