ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — A South Carolina student is accused of choking another student with a belt on a school bus.
WCSC reports Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident involving students from Lake Marion High School.
Jatabious Lee, 17, is reportedly charged with third-degree assault in the incident.
The victim’s mother, Virginia Myers, tells the news station the alleged assault has affected her son and his education. The family has consulted an attorney about the incident caught on camera.
“They could have took my son’s life, that belt if they pulled it tight enough it could have killed him. Then I would have been without a child,” Myers said.
It’s unclear if other students involved will face charges.
