COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA)- State transportation leaders are honoring the little boy killed in an Upstate school shooting by renaming a local interchange.
At a meeting Thursday morning, the SC DOT passed a resolution to rename the interchange of Interstate 85 and SC 24 in Anderson County the Jacob L. Hall Memorial Interchange.
Jacob Hall, 6, died after a shooting at Townville Elementary School in Anderson County in September.
A 14-year-old is accused of killing his father before going to the school and firing shots. A teacher and another student were hurt.
Hall was buried earlier this month.
DOT Commissioner Ben Davis, who represents that part of the Upstate, brought up the resolution to the commission.
“I very proudly make a motion that I trust will be a good memorial for this young man and also bring some healing to that community,” said Davis. “So I make a motion that we adopt this resolution and therefore name that interchange after Jacob Hall.”
The resolution passed unanimously.
