ANDERSON Co., S.C. (WSPA) — No students on a school bus were injured, but two people were taken to the hospital after a head-on crash in Anderson County.
The S.C. Highway Patrol reports the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Monday at SC-81 and Good Hope Church Road. That’s in front of Crescent High School.
Anderson School District Three Superintendent Kathy Hipp said the bus was stopped and waiting to turn into the high school when a car crossed into the turning lane and hit the bus head on.
The driver of the car and a 9-year-old passenger were taken to AnMed Hospital, according to Hipp.
She said there were 11 high school students on the bus. All were checked out by paramedics before leaving with their parents or going to class. The bus driver had no injuries, but was going to the doctor as a precaution, Hipp said.
Troopers say witnesses think the driver of the car may have been having a medical issue before the wreck.
They described the injuries of both the woman and passenger as minor.
